So, you want to be on top of your game and know how to get your life in order?
You’ve come to the right place.
Life is a true journey.
Sometimes it’s a great one but other times it can be a real struggle to feel like you’re in control, with so many distractions and endless information circling around us.
I personally came to a point where I was feeling so overwhelmed by all the options, people and choices that I had to sit down and really get to the bottom of what I really wanted out of life, why that was and how I could be as organized and in control as possible going forward.
In this article, I’ll share with you the exact steps I took, so you can learn how to get your life in order, once and for all.
If you want to know how you can get the most out of life, start with implementing a few of these ideas and notice what a big difference small actions can make.
I just know you will have amazing results.

1. Evaluate Your Life Categories
Life comes in a few different categories which can be divided up into the following:
- Career
- Finances
- Environment
- Health
- Personal development
- Relationships
- Hobbies + fun
Take the time to evaluate your life in each of the categories above.
Then, create a vision for each.
- What do you want to achieve?
- Who do you want to be?
- How can you move forward?
Create a plan to get where you want to be in each area of your life.
Start with evaluating how you are currently doing, so you’ll know exactly where you want to see change and not.
2. Prioritize & Focus On One Thing
As humans, we tend to set too many goals – this is no news.
Just think of every January 1st and how we fill our lives with constraints, limitations, and resolutions that we, let’s face it, never keep anyway.
In order to make your life a little easier on you and for you to feel that you are actually moving forward and making progress – >prioritize your wants and needs and focus on one thing at a time.
3. Set Goals
Speaking of setting goals… if you’re not familiar with setting goals, you absolutely need to start.
Goals give our dreams direction.
If there is something you’ve been longing to do and want to accomplish, set a goal.
Break this goal into as many action steps as possible and take action every day.
4. Invest In A Good Planner
Invest in a good planner so you can plan your weeks and days down to the dot.
Plan like a complete maniac, so you’ll know exactly what’s coming at you.
- How do you want your week to look like
- How do you want to feel
- What will be your main focus
- What will you say yes and no to
Planning comes with control.
If you’ve been with me for a while you probably know that my absolute favorite planning tool is the Productivity Planner by Intelligent Change.
I’ve written an honest review about it if you want to learn more about it.
Planning is key if you want to get your life in order.
5. Learn To Say No
Learning to say no is a powerful way for you to feel more in control and owning your life.
Say yes to things that fill you up and no to things (and people) that put you down.
Be picky and exclusive about the things you agree to.
Your time on this earth is precious, so spend it on the things and people you love.
Stop the people-pleasing now.
6. An Evening Routine To Save Your Morning
Design a productive and rewarding evening routine filled with self-care, planning, and prepping to set your tomorrow up for success.
Be kind to your morning self and do something for her the night before.
Your evening routine is essentially part of your morning routine, so make it an amazing one.
7. Start Your Day Right
Start your day in the best possible way with a supportive morning routine.
I absolutely live for a good morning routine.
How you start your day will influence how the rest of your day, week, month and year will play out.
If you start your day right, you’ll learn how to get your life in order in no time.
Never snooze, make your bed, wake up early and tackle your dreams first thing.
8. Create Systems & Implement The Right Habits
Create systems and structures to make your life easier.
Set your habits up to support you.
And have a designated and organized place for everything.
For example:
- Keys
- Important papers + bills
- Purse
- iPhone + charger
Everything should have its own thought-out place. This will add security to your life and you’ll be so much more efficient.
9. What Gets Measured Gets Done
Continue to check in with yourself and track your progress.
- How are you doing?
- Are you moving forward?
- Do you feel in control?
- Do your daily actions align with your goals?
These are valid questions to ask on your journey to becoming your most organized self.
What gets measured, gets done.
10. Lifehacks Are Your Friend
To really learn how to get your life in order, you should implement lifehacks whenever and wherever you can.
This is, for example, an incredible list of useful lifehacks that will make your life sooo much easier.
Or, you can check out my post on ways you can simplify your life.
11. Write It All Down
Keep a note of everything so you don’t forget any amazing ideas that may pop up, appointments, deadlines, and so on.
Have a notepad or the note-taking app on your phone with you at all times.
You never know when inspiration strikes.
This way, you’ll never forget anything.
12. Be Kind To Yourself
Remember to give yourself some slack and forgive yourself for days when things are completely coco.
Life is unpredictable and we can’t have it together all the time.
Perfectionism is your worst enemy and doesn’t do anyone ANY good.
Take things one day at a time, and do what you can to get your life in order.
Life is not a sprint, it’s a marathon. (yes I thought this borderline cheesy quote was appropriate)
