WHAT EVEN IS AN INTROVERT?

Having a personal development routine can and will change your life.

I am telling you, dreamer.

If you care for your mind and your body, your future-self is in for a real treat.

Once I started to take time out of my day to deliberately increase my personal growth, my whole world changed.

Let me just put it this way, if you don’t already have a personal development routine in your life, the right time to get started is NOW.

Make The Time

The first step is to actually make the time for your personal growth time.

If you’re brand new to personal development, it doesn’t have to take very long.

Start out simple.

Spend 10 minutes on personal growth if that is all you have.

I know you’re busy – but try to either incorporate it in your morning or evening routine.

Your Morning Routine

I personally enjoy having my personal development routine in the morning and as soon as I get up.

I have the house to myself and I stay clear of all distractions.

No one else is up yet.

Doing it first thing also feels like I make it a priority and I can go into my day with my positive mindset on.

There is no better way to start the day than to care for yourself.

I highly recommend implementing your personal development routine during those crispy early hours.

Your Evening Routine

An evening owl are we?

Then, I suggest doing your personal development routine at night time.

There is no right or wrong time.

I just don’t recommend doing it in the middle of the day when you will likely be busy anyway.

Pick a time and place that works for your schedule and you’re good to go.

Define Your Dream Result

It can be helpful to define your dream result and have a clear goal going into your personal development work.

When you have something specific in mind, for instance, a dream you want to chase, you can get your thoughts and emotions on right so you can act from a place of abundance and not from scarcity.

Ask yourself questions like…

  • What does my dream life look like?
  • What is my ultimate goal?
  • How do I want to live my life in the next 2-3 years?
  • What am I like?
  • Who do I hang out with?
  • How much money do I have?
  • What do my days look like?

Get really clear on your desired end result and be sure to bring your personal growth routine with you.

Things To Do

Here are my favorite things to do during my personal development routine.

Dreaming Big Hour

Allow yourself to dream big for up to one hour a day.

Visualize your dream future and hang out with your future self for a bit.

There is power in visualization.

The more you get into the habit of visualizing your dream future, the more likely it is to manifest.

This ain’t woo.

It’s just the power of visualization. ????

Meditate

Meditate for 5-10 minutes.

I love to use the Headspace app (guided meditation and visualization) for all my meditational purposes.

Read

Read an inspiring book.

Here are my absolute favorite books for personal development.

Listen to a podcast if listening is more your thing.

Visit Your Goals

Check-in with your goals and dreams.

  • Are you living in line with your dreams?
  • Are you taking steps in the right direction?
  • If not, what can you do today to better align your self with your goals?

Do Mindset Work

Spend time with your thoughts and emotions.

What thoughts are you currently having and do they support the dream life you want to create?

If not, make the effort to change your thoughts so you can feel differently, take action accordingly and get the results you want.

Your thoughts will always drive your results, so you need to be thinking thoughts that support your dreams.

The results you have in your life right now is evidence of thoughts you have thought in the past.

Practice Gratitude

Repeat your go-to affirmations and take some take to practice gratitude.

I swear by the Five Minute Journal from Intelligent Change.

A gratitude journal that will for sure help you to start and end your days on a happier note.

Journaling

Speaking of journaling…

Journaling is the one thing I personally cannot miss in my personal development routine.

It tends to be the catalyst for all my creative endeavors.

Journaling will spark new ideas for both my personal life and business.

I love it.

I either do Morning Pages (writing freely for 3 whole pages) or use my favorite journaling prompts for self-discovery.

Passive Action Meets Massive Action

Once you’ve read a chapter of an oh-my-goodness-these-concepts-will-change-my-life book, it’s time to actually implement what you’ve just read.

Passive action is all good and great, but if we don’t implement the learnings into our lives, we won’t maximize our potential – and there will not be any REAL growth.

I suggest you take passive action for 20 minutes, then spend 20 minutes actually implementing the thing you just learned.

You gotta put your new knowledge into action, girl.

Make It Cozy

Your personal development routine should be something that you really look forward to.

It’s your me-time, your special time, your dreaming big time.

Light a few candles, put on your favorite cozy outfit, turn up the Bon Iver on the stereo and bring out your favorite beverage.

Make it your best time of the day so that missing it is out of the question.

I wake up at 6 AM with a smile on my face because I am that excited to jump on into my personal development work.

True story.

Do what you can to make it attractive, fun and cozy.

Things To Keep In Mind

Here are a few things you need to keep in the back of your mind as you pursue your new and amazing personal development routine.

Results Will Take Time

It’s not like working out eating healthy.

You will not see results right away.

It took me up to 6 months before I started to see results from my mindset work.

It takes time to scrap old belief systems and to create new ones.

If you stay consistent and on track, you will have amazing results.

Trust me on this one, girl.

It Will Not Feel Urgent

Your personal development routine will not feel urgent to you.

It may be important to you but in the moment when it’s time to take action, it will not feel urgent.

You will likely feel like you have to go and perfect some other project you’re working on.

However, the effects of not having a personal growth routine in place will show up in your future and not in a good way may I add.

You will not feel the benefits right away, but the effects will eventually make an appearance.

This is because it can be hard to motivate the fact that you will not immediately reap the benefits of having a personal development routine.

But now you know that it won’t ever feel urgent, so you can make it a priority and do it anyway.

Continue to show up for yourself every single day.

Start Simple

The best advice I can give you is to start simple.

Take things in your own tempo and start slow.

Don’t go after all the personal development-related activities at once.

Implement one activity at a time.

Mix it up and see what you enjoy the most.

Before You Go

Designing your own personal development routine is important, but not only that – it is also super fun.

So, have fun with it. ❤️

There will likely be days when you won’t feel like working on your limiting thoughts, but know that that is when you really need to do it.

Your body is essentially telling you that you need to care for it, so pay attention.

Make your new personal development routine a habit that sticks and that you never miss.
