Something I get asked a lot by online entrepreneurs is what pages we need on our website.
From different legal pages, the homepage, and the blog, it can be hard to know where to begin and what needs to be included.
When I first started my blog in 2018, I found myself procrastinating and being sucked into the website design phase.
All the colors and fonts and designs, the list of things we need to include, and what the flow should be… and procrastination can stop us from just doing it.
If you don’t have a website yet, or you already do and just need to make some tweaks, this podcast is perfect for you.
I talk about all the things you’re actually supposed to have on your website, and how it can allow your business to thrive!

WHAT PAGES AM I SUPPOSED TO HAVE ON MY WEBSITE?
Your website is the home and the heart of your business.
Of course, you want to make it an amazing place for your audience to hang out.
If you’re a business owner, you need a website. Even if your business is mainly marketed on Instagram or Facebook, it’s still important.
Why? Because you don’t own the followers on those platforms! The truth is, those platforms could disappear if Mark Zuckerberg decides it’s all over (which probably won’t happen, but y’know).
It’s a wise business move to have your own corner, your own space on the Internet, which you own (without your eggs all being in Mark Z’s basket).
It also makes your content more accessible to your audience and where you can build a real connection.
THE HOME PAGE
Let’s start with the homepage, the first page someone will land on.
What should be on the homepage?
Start with a menu at the top for website accessibility.
Below that, include a beautiful photo of yourself or your brand or business and have a short paragraph explaining what you do, who you help, and how you can get results for your reader.
It doesn’t have to be a lot, just a short snippet explaining to your new audience what to expect from you.
Underneath this, add a call to action. Link it to your about page. This means your new reader can continue to binge your story, falling madly in love with you and your business.
Building on that connection.
MAKE YOUR EMAIL SIGN-UP AS EASY AS POSSIBLE
In the next section, include your email sign-up.
Add a freebie, free gift or a lead magnet. Unfortunately, people just don’t sign up for newsletters any more.
Offer them something to build your email list. Mock up a graphic, a form or a button to take them directly to your landing page to sign up.
Make this as easy as possible. You want people to sign up.
You want to capture the whole audience that comes to your website.
ADD STRATEGY TO YOUR HOMEPAGE FLOW
The next section is where you can promote your most popular or newest content.
You may want to get a little strategic here.
For example, if you have a business about journaling and have a business offer about journaling, you may want to promote blog posts on this topic here.
This can convert readers into customers.
For me, I list my most recent podcast episodes, but it depends on what stage of your business you’re in.
If you’re going into a launch, that might come next. Or if you have testimonials, list them.
This will then lead to your product or coaching program. Again, include the testimonials if you have them, and take your reader on a journey.
Always include a call to action on your products or services.
THE JOURNEY OF THE READER
The reason for asking for the sale is at the bottom? There needs to be a journey.
Don’t ask for the sale too soon. Let them get to know you.
Take a look at my home page on SDAD, and see exactly how I’ve set up this homepage journey, converting readers into customers.
Provide value and have a short call to action about the program or course that you want to promote and highlight.
THE FOOTER
You can include anything you want in the footer, but I recommend adding a link to follow your social media and a section for your legal pages.
If you’re a brand new website owner, I have linked legal pages (privacy policy, disclaimer, etc) in the show notes, just so it doesn’t get too overwhelming!
INCLUDE AN ABOUT PAGE
Your about page is the most important page on your website.
It is all about building a relationship with your reader. Telling your story.
Create a timeline. Put in significant changes and go into detail.
For example, I have my first year in 2018 when I started my business, and I keep going.
Break it down, go into detail. Tell them exactly what you went through and what results you gained.
Even if you’re not at your dream life yet, talk about the process. Think about how valuable your words can be and how your reader can resonate with them!
Make that connection. Be as honest as possible.
Like I said, if you’re still on the journey to your dream life, still write about your journey! People connect with that as well as people with amazing results. Sometimes someone with crazy results becomes unrelatable and unapproachable.
If you’re only a few steps ahead, they can see it’s attainable for them too.
Include fun facts about yourself, your favorite TV shows, and how you spend your downtime. Humanize yourself!
Fun fact, I heard your About page is the most clicked on as people are nosy. They want to know what’s going on and who is behind your amazing content.
If you don’t have an about page, add it to your to-do list!
YOUR BLOG PAGE
Whether you have a Youtube channel, a podcast or a blog, have a designated place for all of your content.
Organize it into different categories.
Have a page on your website where your readers can bundle programs and purchase from you.
For example, I have a page that includes all of the courses or programs my readers can buy from me. You don’t need to go into massive detail, but just have a link to send them to your sales page.
If you have any testimonials, include them!
DON’T FORGET A CONTACT PAGE
The last page you need on your website is a contact page (in addition to any legal pages).
If someone wants to contact you, most people are going to use Instagram or Youtube, but brands may still use a contact page.
Include it on your website and make it easy for people to contact you!
Well, those are my tips for what pages you should have on your website!
I hope this helps you to take action, and of course, if you’re stuck, just have a look through the SDAD website and the journey I take my readers on.
But if you’re feeling unsure, just remember to launch your website. It is good enough.
It is always going to be a work in progress.
A lot of people do get stuck and want it to be amazeballs from the beginning, but that just isn’t going to happen.
Just go for it, and good luck!
As always, catch up with me on Instagram and send me a DM, and let me know how it’s going!
