WHY I HATED GOING VIRAL

what even is an introvert?

how to start a blog in 2025

Ever feel like juggling content creation, a full-time job, family, and creativity is a recipe for burnout?

You my lovely friend, are not alone. 💖

As an introverted creator and entrepreneur with a day job and multiple passions, I’ve discovered time and energy management strategies that help me do everything all at once⎯ without needing an editor, a VA, or burning out.

Yes and y to the ay, it’s possible! ✨

Let’s dive in!

Plan Based on Energy, Not Time

Why Introverts Should Prioritize Energy Over Time

If you’re introverted, that dwindling energy after social or mental exertion is oh very real.

No matter how many hours you have in a day, you will hit a wall if you’re drained.

I mean, somebody hand me a blanket, a cozy coffee, some chocolate, and a Friends binge session on HBO Max.

Okay but replace the popcorn with chocolate

Research shows that we (the awesome introverts of the world) prefer long, uninterrupted blocks where we can focus without distraction, while being quickly fatigued by constant context-switching.

This is why I’ve instead categorized my tasks by energy intensity vs time.

  • High-energy (e.g., scripting YouTube videos or new programs)
  • Medium-energy (e.g., editing blog posts, videos, Instagram content)
  • Low-energy (e.g., handling admin or replying to emails)

By aligning tasks with my roller-coaster daily energy levels, I’m able to produce more in less time and actually get stuff done. ✅

Embrace a Cozy Morning Routine

I’m certainly not Supergirl.

I just optimized my best hours.

I wake up at 5:30 a.m., settle in with coffee, candles, and calm music (Alexi Murdoch is a regular), and use 5:45–8:00 a.m. as my “deep work zone” for creativity and planning (for my dream business that is).

If you’ve been following my content since the early days of 2018 (where I was in full-blown *secret* blog mode 🤫), you’ll know that mornings were my jam and without them, this business wouldn’t exist.

(There’s a reason my first ever digital product was an ebook all about morning routines. Yes it was called ✨Dream Morning✨)

The day it started photo

Morning is my most coziest and productive time of the day, and when I do the following:

  • Creative output: video scripts, blog outlines, course planning
  • Email marketing
  • Blog writing
  • Big vision dreaming
  • Songwriting

(Yes I’m tired, but after those first few sips of delicious hipster coffee, you kinda get used to it).

Research backs this up: deep learning and creative tasks are best tackled in the morning when cognitive resources are fresh.

My honest advice? Audit your energy rhythm. Are you a morning person? Slot the big tasks into when you’re the sharpest and have the most creative energy.

Waking up early is the best way to clock in a few extra hours in a day (and to hack time lol).

Even if you have a full-time job, kids, dogs, and all those responsibilities that come with it, I am sure you can find half an hour or even 15 minutes for your dreams.

Sometimes, 10 minutes is all you need to take action and move the needle.

Savor those crispy morning hours you have to yourself and make the most of them.

Take this time to work on yourself, practice self-care, and, more importantly, make time for your dreams.

Get Really Specific with Your To-Do’s

Don’t waste brainpower guessing what “work on business” means.

Because decision fatigue is REAL in the morning and we don’t have time for that.

Be specific, what is the exact result you wish to achieve in those early crispy hours?

Examples:

  • Draft blog post on X topic
  • Edit the Instagram carousel about X
  • Upload lessons 1 + 2 for Course A into Kajabi

Being crystal clear reduces decision fatigue and stops you from distracting yourself, especially when you’re groggy and grumpy pre-coffee.

If you’re specific, there’s less resistance and procrastination too.

Keep Multiple, Color-Coded Calendars

Structure = sanity. 😅

I currently have 4 different calendars (within my Google calendar) for my projects:

  • Work (day job) calendar
  • Content/business calendar
  • Creative/music calendar
  • *Personal stuff

Each category is color-coded and scheduled distinctly.

If it’s not on the calendar, it won’t happen.

This keeps tasks separated, prevents overlap, and helps me make time for all the things without burnout.

(*I’m not super strict when it comes to my Personal calendar, but I do add appointments, workouts, and family events in there to keep track of everything.)

Use Time Constraints to Overcome Perfectionism

Parkinson’s Law says: tasks expand to fill the time allotted.

So, I avoid giving too much time to any one task—e.g., 30 minutes for a blog draft, not two hours.

Otherwise, yes, I will procrastinate and take forever to hit publish.

Done is better than perfect.

Couple this with a productivity technique like Pomodoro, which uses focused 25-minute intervals and short breaks.

Research shows that structured breaks (like Pomodoro) lower fatigue and gives similar results in less time compared to self-regulated breaks

Try it:

  • Choose 25 minutes for one task
  • Work until the timer goes off
  • Take a 5 min break (stretch, sip coffee, eat chocolate)
  • After four cycles, take a longer (15–30 min) break

The Pomodoro method helps me resist perfectionism and stay razor-focused, which is essential for introverts who tend to overthink (oopsie).

I’ve loved and used this website for my Pomodoros.

Let Your Focus Shift With the Seasons

You don’t have to be “on” in every area of your life all the time.

That’s just not realistic, especially when you’ve got a full plate of dreams and projects in front of you.

Sometimes I’m all about course creation.

Other times, I shift into music mode or spend more time on my blog/content.

It’s not about doing everything at once; it’s about tuning into what matters most right now.

Give yourself permission to rotate focus.

That doesn’t mean you’re flakey, it means you’re human.

When you allow for seasons of focus, you’ll feel way less overwhelmed and a lot more energized.

K, cool? Great! 💖

Create Your Own ✨Dream Day✨

For me, that’s Wednesdays.

I don’t work my day job that day, and I use it to go all-in on creative work: filming YouTube videos, building courses, writing music, batching content— all the good cozy stuff.

Even if it’s just one solid day a week, it adds up in a big way (because I’ve learned to produce more in less time).

I work in Pomodoro-style bursts, use my energy mapping, and boom—progress actually happens, the needle is moving along nicely.

Slowly but surely. 🥰

I understand that most people don’t have a day off during the week, but if you can carve out a Saturday, Sunday or even just half a day for your dreams, protect it like gold.

Embrace Your Introvert Superpowers

If you’re an introvert like me, you already know: quiet is where the magic happens.

(Also, quiet people can do amazing things)

  • Deep focus
  • Thoughtful content
  • Listening to your audience

None of it requires loud, extroverted energy.

You don’t need to show up all loud to make an impact.

You just need to show up with intention.

Use that cozy beautiful brain of yours for quality over quantity.

People will feel it, I promise.

Batch & Automate Like a Cozy CEO

Look, decision fatigue is real.

So I make future-me’s life easier:

  • I pre-record my Instagram stories
  • I batch my graphics in Canva
  • I schedule emails and blog posts

I use ClickUp like a cozy to-do board that syncs with my energy.

All of it is planned out in my calendar and ClickUp.

Because if it’s not scheduled… it probably won’t happen (and I’ll end up scrolling instead 😅).

Protect Your Energy Like It’s Sacred (Because It Is)

Being busy is one thing, but being drained is another.

Burnout sneaks in, especially for us introverts who recharge alone.

Here’s what helps me stay sane:

  • Clear work/life boundaries
  • A “no” list (so I’m not saying yes to everything)
  • Actual downtime: slow walks, reading, music, coffee-time, running (slowly lol) and a Netflix binge

And most importantly?

I try not to overschedule. 😬

Less really can be more.

Map Out Your Week

This one’s a game-changer.

On Sunday night, I cozy up with unhealthy amounts of chocolate and plan the week ahead:

  • What do I want to feel like by Friday?
  • What’s on my energy high/medium/low task list?
  • What’s a non-negotiable?

Then I pop it all into my calendar—along with rest, family time, and some margin for life to happen (because let’s face it, one of the kids will probably come down with something lol).

It’s flexible, not rigid.

This gives me a gentle path to follow all week long.

Use The Data to Guide You

This isn’t about hustling harder. It’s about noticing what’s working and what’s draining.

Every week, I do a little check-in during my CEO planning time:

  • What gave me energy? What zapped it?
  • What tasks flowed easily? What felt forced?
  • What can I tweak next week to feel better?

It’s not about fixing everything all at once.

Just one tiny adjustment can change the whole vibe.

Why This Works (Especially for us Introverts)

  • Energy-first planning prevents sneaky burnout
  • Specific tasks reduce overwhelm and decision fatigue
  • Pomodoro rhythm matches how our brains actually work
  • Separating calendars = less chaos
  • Seasonal focus means you’re always progressing without stretching too thin

Final Thoughts

You don’t need a team.

You don’t need fancy gear.

You definitely don’t need more hours in a day than Beyoncé.

All you need is a rhythm and schedule that works for you.

By planning around your energy (not just your hours), protecting what matters, and staying focused on what lights you up, you can build a creative and cozy life that feels as good as it looks.

Cozy business vibes! 💖
