Yes, people still read blogs. No, they are not dead.
I started a secret blog in 2018.
It was just me, my laptop, heaps of hipster coffee, and my cozy mornings in a quiet little corner of the internet.
Fast forward 7+ years, and I’m still blogging almost every week.
My blog consistently brings in 50,000+ page views a month.
So I guess people are still reading things online, eh? 😅
If you have a blog (or want to start one) in 2025, this post is for you.
Because yes, the world has changed.
AI is here.
Algorithms are weird.
Honestly? Blogging is still one of the best, most introvert-friendly ways to build a business (and make money) online.
Let’s dive into 14 things you should absolutely be doing in 2025 to grow your blog, reach more dream readers, and make money blogging.

For my visual learners:
1. Use ChatGPT
But Don’t Let It Do the Writing for You
Yes, I love ChatGPT.
100% yes, I use it for blogging.
But definitely no⎯ I don’t let it write my posts for me.
Google is a smart girly, she knows when something is AI-generated.
And let’s be completely real: your people want you, not the robots.
There are *enough* robots out there (who’d a thunk it lol).
Here’s how I actually use ChatGPT to help me grow my blog in 2025:
- To generate blog post ideas and keywords
- To draft outlines and H2 headings
- To write meta descriptions
- To brainstorm Pinterest pin titles and descriptions
After that? I rewrite basically (and almost) everything in my brand voice.
I add my own stories, experiences, and thoughts to the mix.
You should, too. 👋
2. Write for One Main Keyword (But Don’t Overthink It)
I don’t keyword-stuff.
Google? No likey.
I don’t obsess over competition scores, domain authorities or what’s ranking on the first page of Google.
I just pick one main keyword per post—something simple that my dream reader might type into Google, and use it naturally throughout the article (in the slug, a heading, in the alt text of an image, meta description etc).
If you need help finding keywords, you can ask ChatGPT or try something like:
- LowFruits.io
- Ubersuggest
- Google’s “People Also Ask” section
Focus on what your dream audience is asking and make that your keyword.
3. Add Personality: GIFs, Emojis, and Fun Formatting
K, my favorite way to spruce up a “boring” blog post!
If you know me, you know that emojis and especially GIFS are my love language.

Friends GIFS have a special place in my heart. ❤️
Make your blog post feel like you (more human, more fun).
- Drop in a well-timed GIF (I use Giphy)
- Sprinkle emojis 🌼🧁☕️ (but don’t overdo it, there’s a balance to be had hehe)
- Use bold, italics, and highlight key text in a branded color
This makes your content more human, and more fun and engaging to read. ✨
4. Embed a Video
If you have a YouTube channel or create for Instagram or TikTok, embed the related video into your blog post.
I do this all the time because (duh) I have a YouTube Channel, but also because this:
- It increases time on page
- Google loves mixed media
- Your audience gets more value
Don’t worry though, if you’re not creating video content, try and embed a helpful video from someone else (with credit).
You can see how I did it in this post, for example.
This will still boost your SEO.
5. Add Internal + External Links
This is basically SEO 101:
- Link to other posts on your blog/website (internal links)
- Link to other high-quality websites (external links)
I like to include a “Related Reads” section near the top of each post.
It keeps people on your site longer and builds trust with Google.
But definitely don’t just add random links “just because”⎯ make it make sense. 🤓
6. Use a Clean, Keyword-Friendly Slug
Make sure your blog post URL (also called the slug) includes your main keyword.
For example, in this blog post, my keyword is blogging tips 2025.
shedreamsallday.com/blogging-tips-2025
Short, clear, and searchable.
Win-win! 😍
7. Make It Skimmable
You know this already.
People are busy, and their attention spans are close to zero.
Aka, most people don’t read a blog post, they skim.
I warmly recommend you use:
- Short paragraphs
- Bullet points and lists
- Bolded keywords
- Descriptive H2s
- Lots of white space
- Highlight key sentences in a lighter colored background to draw attention like this
8. Write Like a Hooman 💖
AI tools are great and all, but your voice is what people will come back for.
After using AI to generate a structure or an outline (or implement the tips I shared above), always rewrite in your own brand voice.
Check yourself before publishing:
- “Does this even sound like me?”
- “Would I say this to a friend?”
If not, rewrite or tweak it a little.
Sprinkle in stories and humanize the words.
Again, this seems to be what the Googles are craving these days, so we might as well oblige.
9. Add a Call to Action (CTA)
…or in coolio marketing terms: a CTA.
✨Give your audience a reason to stay in your world.✨
Every blog post should guide your reader somewhere:
- To a freebie
- Onto your email list
- Into one of your offers
I warmly recommend linking to your most aligned freebie inside the post, in the sidebar, and at the bottom.
Have a look at how I’ve done it (I also have a banner at the top).
Nah, it’s not too much⎯ as long as you make it natural.
It’s just an invitation; they don’t have to take you up on it.
If you’re sharing a freebie (AKA lead magnet or option), it’s just more FREE value to your peeps, and who wouldn’t say “yes” to that? ☺️
10. Use Pinterest Marketing
Don’t sleep on Pinterest. 💤
Pinterest is great.
Pinterest is your friend.
Pinterest will help you get blog traffic⎯ especially when you are a new blogger on the scene.
Steal my Pinterest marketing strategy:
- Paste my finished blog post into ChatGPT
- Ask it for 5-pin titles + descriptions
- Create 5 pins in Canva
- Schedule them using Tailwind
Even in 2025, Pinterest is one of the best ways to get blog traffic, especially when Google’s still warming up to you.
(Don’t worry, you’ll get there⎯ and by “there” I mean the first few pages of Google.)
11. Repurpose Your Blog Posts
That’s right.
It’s time to channel your inner DJ and remix the heck out of your content.
You’ve already written the blog post, so ya might as well squeeze all the juice out of it 🍋 (sorry, weird analogy lol).
- Turn it into a Reel
- Create a carousel post
- Read it as a podcast episode
- Use snippets for Threads or TikTok
- Send part of it as a newsletter
This is key to building your brand faster without creating 50 pieces of content every week.
And very introvert-friendly, I may add.
This is slow and cozy marketing in a nutshell.
Use your happy little helper, ChatGPT, to help you with ideas in this department.
12. Update Older Blog Posts
Take a dip into the ol’ blog archives.
Because your old blog posts? They’re SEO goldmines waiting to shine again.
Go back and:
- Add new insights
- Fix broken links
- Update the title and meta description
- Embed a video
- Add a freebie
- Make it skimmable
Refreshing posts signal to Google that your content is alive and well⎯ and worthy of ranking.
Give it a shot! 🥰
14. Know Your “Why” for Blogging
Why did you start your dream blog in the first place?
What is the underlying dream vision you have for your life?
- Share your story?
- Help others?
- Grow a community?
- Quit your 9-5?
- Enter the cozy pajama lifestyle?
Always keep “your why” in your back pocket and let it guide your content strategy so you’re building something sustainable, and not just chasing algorithms.
Not sure what your why is? Head to Pinterest and create your dream vision board! ✨
Final Thoughts
So by now you know that blogging in 2025 is FAR from dead.
It’s different sure— but better, in a way.
You get to create slow, intentional, human-first content that lives on the internet long after a Reel has disappeared into the void.
So, whether you’re just getting started or you’re deep in the archives, I hope this post gave you a cozy nudge to keep going with your dream blog.
Your voice matters.
And your blog is a beautiful way to share it.✨
Quiet people can do amazing things.
