- Should you start a YouTube channel to grow your cozy online business this year?
- Is video really king—or queen? 👑
- Do you have to show your bootiful face on video to be successful?
Let’s find out! 👀
Why YouTube Might Be Your New Cozy Business Bestie
Meet Mia: Your Cozy Online Business Coach
Ello! I’m Mia, and you’ve just stepped into the She Dreams All Day universe. Yay to THAT! I’m an online business coach for introverts who want to:
- Quit their 9-5s
- Grow a cozy community
- Make money watching Grey’s Anatomy, Gilmore Girls, Friends—whatever your go-to comfort show happens to be.
I consider myself a soft and cozy entrepreneur because ew, that hustle? Not my introvert jam. I bet it isn’t yours either, so you are in the right place.
The Introvert’s Dilemma: Where to Show Up Online
CONFESSION: I’ve been feeling like Bugs Bunny, going back and forth in indecisive land only to bring me back to the start. Just thinking waaay too much about where to show up online for my business:
- YouTube
- Podcasting
- Blogging
- Instagram, again
Sound familiar? Classic overthinking, overanalyzing.
✨Introverting✨ all over myself.
My YouTube Comeback Plan
Guess who’s back? Tis me, your friend and fellow cozy introvert, Mia. 👋
I recently shared that I was done with YouTube and would focus on the podcast + blog.
But honestly, podcasting didn’t feel right. I felt like I was hiding from myself, my audience, and my success/growth.
Why Podcasting Didn’t Work for Me
Publishing podcast episodes felt like they were going out into the abyss with no way for you, ze ppl, to engage with my content.
I love a good podcast, but I didn’t have a solid strategy for building and engaging a community.
The result? Crickets.
Major demotivation and confusion followed and understandably so.
The Case for Long-Form Content
Social media as an introvert just wasn’t going to cut it (for me at least).
Social media is a lottery. You post a reel, you enter the lottery.
You either win some or lose some—most of the time… nothing. It’s exhausting. 😳
On the other hand, long-form content is a proper strategy and a long-term game.
You plant little evergreen trees that grow your business and audience for years to come.
Tis genius, really! 👀
Start a YouTube Channel As An Introvert
I’m reviving my YouTube channel for 3 major reasons (now these might be reasons you also might want to consider starting your own YouTube channel ⎯ even as an introvert).
1. Searchability (SEO)
YouTube is owned by Google, so SEO and searchability are top-notch.
You can create content people are searching for and plant evergreen trees all over the platform.
People don’t go to Instagram to solve their problems; they go to Google and YouTube.
Plus, embedding a YouTube video in your blog boosts your SEO game immensely.
2. Building a Community
With YouTube, you have the opportunity to build relationships with people, answer follow-up questions, and create a cozy community.
Engagement feels stronger on YouTube than on blogs or Instagram (or is it just me?).
3. Perks of Video Content
- The average viewer watches at least 17 hours of video content per week
- Users watch more than 1 billion hours of content daily on YouTube
- Easier to teach and educate through video
- Personality ✨shiiiines✨ through
- Know, like, trust factor is built more easily
- Monetization through Google Ads, affiliate marketing, or promoting your offers in videos/description
Trends and Algorithms
As trends and algorithms change on social media, YouTube remains strong.
If you’ve been hopping on and off the content train, unsure where to grow your audience, maybe YouTube is the place.
Before You Do Anything: Consider the Fun Factor
I don’t want you to start a YouTube channel if it’s not something you’ll enjoy.
Ask yourself: Are you not pursuing YouTube because you assume it won’t be your thing due to various fears (judgment, confidence, tech stuff), or do you genuinely feel it isn’t your thing?
If it’s fear, pursue it. 👏
If it’s genuine disinterest, stick to blogging (and podcasting if it feels like your vibe).
The Big Takeaway
To grow your cozy online business, make more sales (ideally while you’re snoozing or watching Netflix), and move closer to the cozy pajama lifestyle, you need a strategy for growth.
Consider these three factors:
- Yourself
- Your audience
- Your ROI
If YouTube fits these, then video might be queen for you.
Or maybe blogging with a side of a podcast.
The fun part? You get to decide.
As for me? I’m excited to be back to weekly videos.
Tootles, cozy business vibes forever and always.
Catch ya next week! 💖 🥰
