WHY I HATED GOING VIRAL

what even is an introvert?

how to start a blog in 2025

On today’s SDAD podcast, I talk about a topic that is spoken about a lot as a content creator.

Niching down.

I discuss just what the heck a niche is, if a niche is still needed and whether or not you should continue to niche down in your business.

Oooh, and today is the first time I’m recording from my cozy, vibey new studio, so I’m very excited!

SHOULD I NICHE DOWN?

Many content creators or business owners feel overwhelmed by the term ‘niche’.

When you’re first starting out, you may be told to ‘niche down as hard as you can’ to have the most success. When I first started my blog, this is what I was told!

There’s nothing wrong with having a niche, but my perspective on niching down has changed.

For example, my business over the years has evolved. It’s still changing even now.

And it’s important to allow for this change. To allow yourself to evolve.

Don’t become too constrained in one topic and pigeonhole yourself.

Building a personal brand instead of a niche gives you the chance to pivot. You don’t have to talk about the same thing all the time.

You’re not putting yourself in a box (and nobody likes being put into boxes, especially introverts).

YOUR NICHE IS YOU.

Something I believe, as well as other online business coaches and leaders, is that your niche is actually you.

It’s you and your life.

You and your beliefs and core values.

Of course, you will have an umbrella topic like blogging or content creation. But speaking about other things allows you to build an audience through your personal brand.

For example, with my business, I talk about things like Friends the TV show. Cozy vibes. Introvert life. Mindset. Personal development. Showing up online. Coffee. Chocolate. So many things!

And I do this because they make me happy. And you, as my audience, get it.

You’re here with me, resonating with this content.

Since I started my online business, my content has changed. From blogging, to Youtubing and then podcasting. This is ok! You’re allowed to do this and not just talk about one thing.

Share what you want with the world.

My niche = my message

My niche is my message and what I stand for.

Quiet people can do amazing things.

This core message is why I do what I do.

I want to show the world that quiet people can chase their dreams and run successful businesses.

Ask yourself; what is your personal brand?

It’s what you stand for. Your values. Vibes. Unique energy. Your personality.

In a nutshell, it’s y-o-u!

Stop worrying about the niching down part.

Create in your own unique way. That’s how you’re going to stand out.

Authentic is a buzzword in the online space, but being authentic is important. It’s how you’re going to connect with people who are waiting for you. Sharing what you love and being yourself.

And that is your niche.

HOW CAN I MONETIZE MY BRAND WITHOUT NICHING DOWN?

You can still monetize without niching down.

Build an audience around your unique brand and message. Evolve. Change course. Pivot.

Take a big step outside the box and build an audience that resonates with you.

Building a personal brand is all about building an online family.

Talk about anything you want.

Your peeps will get it because they’re your peeps.

It’s not the topics you talk about that will define your success, it’s you. Everything that makes you, you.

People want to know you.

Even if you’ve heard you may grow quicker by niching down. Yes, you might. But a personal brand will last a lifetime.

ASK YOURSELF…

What is your overall message? Think about your core message and what you stand for.

What is your story and who are you as a person? What makes you different?

The answers to these questions will be how and why you stand out online.

They will help YOUR audience to resonate and connect with you.

And if you’re struggling with content, just think;

Who are you creating for?

What does she need today?

That, in my opinion, is the future of the niche.

People connect with other human beings.

They don’t connect with JUST a topic.

You don’t need to niche down, have fun and be yourself.

And get your core message out there! 😍
