A PERSONAL UPDATE

It feels like it’s been a while since I recorded a solo podcast, as I’ve had the summer off resting, recharging and dreaming about new business ideas.

But exciting news! I will soon be moving into a recording studio, where I’ll have professional soundboards, my own office and studio space.

And like I said, I basically took the whole summer off to dream up new ideas for my business and have some time to recharge.

As much as I love the PJ lifestyle that I have created for myself, I am an introvert, so I need my alone time and space to dream about all the things.

I spent time with my kid and my partner. Watched Greys Anatomy. I am just so grateful for my business for allowing me to do this.

Even during this time off, I still hit 10k months. And I’m saying that to use as motivation to show you just how possible that lifestyle is.

I’m personally not super motivated by money, but being aware that I’ve created something that gives me the space to do this, I am truly grateful for.

I’ve missed the biz, but I am back!

The goal of creating content

So, how do you spark that connection and stand out when there are so many creators online?

Firstly, think about the goal of creating content for any business.

What is that goal?

To captivate an audience.

To attract the attention of your dream audience.

To connect.

Not only to connect, but to retain their attention.

Your goal is to have them coming back, looking at your content and thinking about you. Thinking; what is she up to today? Where is she? What’s happening in her world?

Your profile and content needs to be valuable and engaging for your dream audience.

Content is the first thing your audience will see.

Build trust and a relationship with your audience.

And for that to happen, content is key.

Let’s break this down into some keywords.

TRUTH

Be the girl who speaks her truth.

It sounds so silly, but if you can tell the truth about how you feel and how you do things, you will create trust.

Tell the truth about your struggles, pain points and business.

This creates a connection.

People connect more to pain points than success, which might be because they’re closer to your pain points than your results.

Share your story. Don’t just talk about the good (even though that’s still important, too).

Speak your truth.

SHARE YOUR STORY.

I waited so long to share my story.

Too long!

I didn’t fully share my story until this year – 4 years into my business.

And when I first did, I had more engagement than ever.

I showed my vulnerabilities, my truth. My ups, downs and in between.

Then save this to a highlight reel. When people come across your profile, you want this to be one of the first things they see. Trust me, people will read it!

Your ‘about’ page will probably be the most viewed page on your entire website.

People are curious.

They want to know who the amazing person is behind the content.

They want to resonate. Connect.

You’re in a serious relationship with your audience.

Think about your content like you’re dating.

It’s all about connection and relationship.

People do not follow or buy from brands and people that they do not have a relationship or interest with.

So, what’s important in a relationship or when you’re dating?

Trust, truth, vulnerability, consistency.

You want to hear from your friend.

You don’t want a friend who skips town and you don’t hear from her!

You need to understand each other.

Know what they like and don’t like.

Their struggles. Dreams. Desires. All of it.

Speak to them in a way that resonates.

As a friend.

As you.

PERSONALITY

Personality will win the game. Always.

This is what sets you apart from everyone else.

There are so many people creating content about creating content or starting a business online.

But think about it – why do you follow me?

Why are you listening to this podcast right now?

The answer – you connect with me as a person.

My story.

My personality.

Let yours shine!

Don’t show up with this filtered personality.

As well as it being exhausting to maintain, people will see right through it.

Speak to your audience as a friend.

I know this isn’t always easy and it takes time and practice.

But, show as much of yourself as you can.

Resonate

If you haven’t already read the book ‘Resonate: For Anyone Who Wants To Build An Audience’ by Alex Wolf, read it. It is one of the best books I have read about building an audience online.

When you are able to resonate on a deep level, your audience will see themselves in your content. They’ll see themselves in your dreams, struggles, your relatable content.

By resonating with your audience, you’re building that tight-knit community.

Leader

As much as this word might make your cringe, hear me out.

This ties into sharing valuable content.

Educational content.

Show your audience that you are an expert at what you do.

You don’t have to be an expert at first, but you have to be passionate about what you do.

If I wasn’t passionate about talking about my business, introversion and creating content, it simply wouldn’t work!

Sharing educational content helps to build a connection with your audience.

Be the leader!

Do it with your quirks and personality attached to it.

Think about what’s important to your audience.

Where does she want to go?

What are her dreams?

What does she need right now?

That’s the content that is valuable and educational.

Be a leader online in your field.

Share tips, tricks, and strategies.

Look at this podcast. It is value-based content.

If you’re a coach or sell an ebook or product, share segments of this on your social media!

Value, value value.

CONCLUSION

So, there you have it.

The most important factors when it comes to creating content that sparks a connection online.

Trust.

Your story.

Being in a relationship with your audience.

Your personality.

Resonating.

Being a LEADER.

This is what will truly spark a connection with your audience.
